The Best Things in Life
by Peter Kreeft
What is it: In Socratic form and using Socratic arguments, with a guy that even looks rather like Socrates, Peter Kreeft explains that our cultures “best things” are flawed and useless. Although he argues from a Christian perspective, he uses only logic to refute mindless learning, rock music, sex, pot and more.
Plot: There is no plot. It is just conversation
Positive Elements: It teaches you how to use logic and does give some good reasons why not to do as our culture does.
Negative Elements: Even with my minimal understanding of logic, I could tell that at least one argument was flawed.
Overall: I recommend the book, but take it with a grain of salt. It is a great discussion book.
