Fashion Tips: Fabric Headbands and Christa-Taylor

Fashion Tips:

Fabric Headbands
Pink. Green. Blue. Orange. Yellow.
Flashy. Crazy. Funny. Stylish.
They’re beautiful! They’re great for any occasion: fancy, casual, daily, or just to randomly dress up the hair. It’s a great way to spread the outfit’s colors to your hair. Not only are they fairly new and originally designed in China (no wonder they are so exotic…), they are really popular.

Fashion Tips

Fashion Tips
Board Shorts:
Board shorts! Made to go over your bathing suit, they come in all different sizes and colors, lengths and styles to match with your outfit. They keep your swimming attire modest! You can even wear them without a bathing suit and use them as just shorts with a tee shirt! Reef and Billabong make a wide variety of styles and color for girls, although sometimes they can be found at the local Wal-Mart or Target. If you look at one of those two stores, the shorter shorts in the juniors. If you desire the longer style that falls just above the knee, look in the men’s section, but check on the inside. You want the type without the netting.
Reefs:
Looking for a new style of flip-flops that look modern or nice and fit comfortably, but aren’t nearly as expensive as Rainbows? Try Reefs! They mold quickly to your feet, no matter what style you get, and some types can even get wet! If you want to go down to the beach with your Reefs, try the Fanning, Slap or Lucia. If you want to go out to eat in them, or go on the deck boat where you don’t plan to get wet, try the Anola (shown above) or Sting Raye.

Fashion Tips for April

Fashion Tips for April

I’m hoping for plenty of rain to make the May flowers grow and if so I’m also going to be on the look out for cute umbrellas, rain jackets or ponchos, and boots.

Rain boots in particular are a lot of fun! This season look for boots with bright colors and designs…they don’t have to fit to your body (like leggings do), and can have fun buckles and belts attached! It’s very exciting!

As for umbrellas, you can get some cute ones for cheap at places like bookstores (such as Borders) and the colors are black, white, or clear, but personally, I just love bright colors! Target would be a good place to find some vividly colored umbrellas to match your boots.

In addition to umbrellas and boots, rain jackets are in. Empire waist jackets are in, or long, elegant-looking ponchos (rather hard to find!). Any color is fine, but turquoise is a very bright, but sophisticated color that would keep you from looking like a rainbow. This season is just overflowing with opportunities to wear rain-gear. But, as always, remember to keep whatever you wear modest (not sure how rain boots or rain jackets could be immodest anyway…but I’m sure they’ve figured something out.) Have fun! :)

Fashion Tips for Spring

Fashion Tips for Spring:

We all want the winter blahs gone now, so start using pink shades of make-up, or depending on your skin tones, bronzy colors. It’s also a good idea to get a book like Color Me Beautiful and determine what “season” you are, so that you can pick clothes out that look best on your face and skin tone.

Brights are in, and so are babydolls. Sometimes babydoll tops are hard to fit, and a lot of the time they scoop too low. However, there are a lot of cute babydoll tops and different styles of tops out there. Just make sure they fit and are sufficiently modest.

If you’re like me,and you feel uncomfortable in normal shorts, you should be very happy that bermudas are back! Personally, I think they are adorable, and they’re one of my favorite items of clothing, but not only are they cute, they’re modest!

Even if you don’t like bermudas or babydolls, picking out clothes with flowery prints and bright colors is a great way to celebrate spring. And for those of you who are afraid of pink, it’s not really all that bad! You won’t seem frilly if it’s a bright pink rather than pale pink. Just remember to have fun and keep in mind that modesty should come before fashion.

At-home French Manicure

A French Manicure that can be done right in your kitchen!

Supplies:
• pre-cut, self-adhesive nail-painting guides

• a pure white, opaque nail polish

• a sheer, natural polish

(You can get all of these at stores like CVS)

To create those salon-perfect nails follow these steps:

First, give yourself a regular manicure — remove any old polish, clean under your nails and file the tips of your nails into a nice oval shape.

Second, following the directions on the package, apply the white nail guides one finger at a time. The nail guides is what helps to create the perfect edge and angle.

Third, apply the pure white polish on the tips of your nails, above the painting guide. One good coat of polish is usually enough but you may need more depending on the quality of the nail polish, make sure that the first is completely dry before adding the second coat.

Finally, when the white polish is dry, slowly remove the nail-painting guides. Apply several coats of the sheer polish on each of your nails, covering the entire nail, to finish the look.
Viola!
